FHPL DISTRICT COMMUNITY ROOM POLICY
The community room in the Forest Hill Public Library District is primarily for use of the Library System for programs that promote services or by the City of Forest Hill for City-sponsored events.
When the community room is not in use by the Library or a City department, the room is available on a first-come, first-serve basis to groups and organizations as specified in this document. These uses are scheduled by a completed application (link to form), accompanied with $50.00 cash to cover the application processing fee.
Use of the Library's community room does not constitute Library or City of Forest Hill endorsement or approval of viewpoints expressed by participants in the program. Advertisements or announcements implying such endorsement are not permitted.
The community room of the Forest Hill Public Library District is designed to meet general informational, educational, cultural, and civic purposes.
Under the following guidelines, the library community room is available at times that do not conflict with the daily operations of the library.
Payment of $50.00 application processing fee for up to two hours will be due at time of application. After two hours a fee of $20.00 will be added for each additional hour. ($25.00 will be refunded if the room is cleaned and trashed emptied.)
The Community Room is open to the public
No admission is charged for those attending the meeting
No sale of goods or services nor a solicitation for future sales or services will be permitted without prior Library Board Approval. "Solicitation" is any act or attempt to advertise, market, or sell any product or service or to seek membership in any organization, or obtain a donation/contribution. Public property, such as City of Forest Hill buildings, facilities, parking lots, grounds, and other real property, is held in trust for the public. It is to be used for governmental and public purposes and governmental property is not to be used for public gain.
ACCEPTABLE USAGE OF THE LIBRARY'S COMMUNITY ROOM INCLUDES:
Library-sponsored activities and programs
City of Forest Hill Department programs and meetings
Civic, cultural, educational, and informational programs
Meet the author and book signing sponsored by the library
UNACCEPTABLE USAGE OF THE LIBRARY'S COMMUNITY ROOM INCLUDES:
Political campaign purposes (Political forums are permitted)
Weddings and/or Showers
