                                             Library Rules of Conduct
The Forest Hill Library District of Trustees asks for your cooperation in maintaining an environment conducive to reading and enjoyable use of the library for everyone. While on library property, the following behaviors are unacceptable. Engaging in unacceptable behaviors may result in being asked to leave the library. Police will be called if necessary to enforce these rules.


1. Firearms, illegal knives, and other weapons prohibited by law are banned from the library premises.
2. Damaging, altering, or vandalizing library facilities, equipment, and materials.
3. Removing library materials without properly checking them out.
4. Abandoning, neglecting, or leaving young children unattended or otherwise violating the Children in the
Library policy.
5. Harassing other library users or library staff, including physical, sexual, or verbal abuse.
6. Possessing or being under the influence of alcohol, or illegal drugs.
7. Eating, drinking, or using tobacco products inside the library.
8. Lack of protective footwear and/or shirt
9. The use of cell phones is not permitted in the library and must be turned off or silenced.
10. Using radios, televisions, telephones, CD/tape players, or other such devices audible to others.
11. Selling, soliciting, or panhandling
12. Seeking or collecting signatures on a petition without permission of the library manager/board president
13. Distributing or posting printed materials or literature without prior approval from the library
manager/board president; nothing that is “for-profit” may be posted.
114. Bringing bicycles into the library, skates of any kind, skateboards, etc. may not be used in the library.
15. Blocking any entrance, exit, or aisle.
16. Bringing any animals except for service dogs into the library.
17. Bringing bedrolls, duffle bags, and other large luggage items into the library.
18. Improper use of restrooms, including but not limited to shaving, bathing, hair washing, and laundry.
19. Being in the library before or after library operating hours without the written permission of the library
manager/board president.
20. Entering restricted library areas without the permission of library staff.
21. Offensive bodily hygiene constitutes a nuisance to others.
22. No sleeping.
23. Indulging in a disturbance of the public peace by loud or aggressive behavior, boisterous behavior,
running, profanity, or abusive language.
24. Engaging in any indecent or obscene conduct or making any indecent exposure of one’s body.
25. Engaging in acts that are subject to prosecution under criminal or civil codes of law.
26. Viewing indecent or offensive materials as described in, and prohibited by Texas Penal Code.
